Ready Steady Walk

Local Walking Groups

Our Ready Steady Walks are free, push-chair friendly, social walking groups for families with young children living in Hampshire.

Ready Steady Walk is a good excuse to get out into the fresh air and give you the chance to meet local families in your community. Your local walking group will be led by a Barnardo’s volunteer, or your local community worker. The walking groups meet once a week at the same venue in your area, at the same day and time.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our local walking groups soon!

Why join our walks?

  • Meet new families in your area and stretch your legs!
  •  All walks are pushchair-friendly and will take no longer than an hour.
  • Hear about the latest health information and what’s going on in your local area.
  • Social opportunities to arrange further meet-ups, or just stay out afterwards – our walkers also enjoy a picnic or a café stop

Where is my nearest walk?

Find our local groups listed below or use our interactive map

Volunteering

The groups are often led by volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Barnardo’s volunteer and being involved in our walks please visit the Volunteer section of our website.

Each walk is led by a Hampshire Healthy Families team member or volunteer. The walk lead will be wearing a bright green lanyard with Barnardo’s ID. If there is no lead for the walk, a message will be posted on Hampshire Healthy Families social media pages the day before.

"I found my local walk and the lovely group when I was reallystruggling. By putting myself out there and attending it has really helped meto start to find myself again. This is due to how welcoming the volunteers are to include me even when I was so nervous to talk to begin with."

"The walk is our favourite activity of the week and something we have continued to go to for over a year. The volunteer is a fountain of knowledge and someone who we have loved getting to know."
