Hampshire Healthy Families is a partnership between Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Health Visiting and Barnardo’s to deliver the Healthy Child Programme across Hampshire. From birth to school age, Hampshire Healthy Families offers a range of support for you and your child.

From birth 

  • New birth contact

From your health visiting service in the family home, to support the transition to parenthood.

  • Breastfeeding support groups

Join one of our breastfeeding groups, whether you are pregnant, have a breastfeeding concern or want to meet other breastfeeding mothers. Access your local groups on the Hampshire Healthy Families website.

  • Ready Steady Walk

Run by volunteers, Ready Steady Walks are free, push-chair friendly, social walking groups for families with young children living in Hampshire. Find your local walk on the Hampshire Healthy Families website.

  • Five to Thrive New Baby Course

Run by Community Health Development Workers in your local community. Over four weeks, we will cover the 5 building blocks for your baby’s optimal brain development.

  • Postnatal Contact

From your Health Visiting Service. This could be by letter, clinic setting or in the family home. This offers support and guidance to help you and your family during this important time. We’re here to ensure you have the resources and assistance you need.

  • Baby and Me 3-to-4-month group contact

Join your local Community Nursery Nurses from the Health Visiting Service and other families to learn more about your child's health and development in this one off face to face session.

  • Introduction to Solids

Join two of our Community Nursery Nurses for a three-part video series ‘Introduction to Solids’ to help you prepare for this next stage and take you through the early stages of feeding your baby, and moving onto toddler foods.

Delivered by your Community Health Development Worker in your local community. This 1 ½ hour session looks at your child’s speech and language development and how communication is more than just words. Ideal for families with children 9 months to 5 years old.

Face to face in a clinic setting or at home. This is an opportunity for you to discuss your child's health and development.

  • Family Food and Fun

Delivered by your Community Health Development Worker in your local community. This session aims to work with you to gain an understanding of portion sizes, and also the confidence to start cooking from scratch and making meal times a real family activity
