Ready Steady Mums

Most of us want to be fit and active and feel healthy.

The Ready Steady Mums groups are fun and informal community exercise movement for mums.

We know that being active helps us embrace motherhood, be healthy and balanced, and set a great example to our kids.  There are a number of groups across Hampshire with more setting up every month.  These groups are supported by Southern Health visiting team and Barnardo’s through the Hampshire healthy families programme  These groups meet weekly at the same time and venue this supports families with routine and structure.  The groups are free and a great way to meet other parents.

There are opportunities for volunteering and being the group leader.

Five to Thrive

Recent research proves that how a parent behaves around their baby in the first three years of life has a direct impact on how their baby's brain develops. The five to thrive approach focusses on the importance of five key activities as the ‘building blocks for a healthy brain’

Respond · Cuddle · Relax · Play · Talk.

In the first year of life the brain doubles in size. By the 1st birthday the brain is two-thirds the size of the adult brain.  In the first three years of life the brain is growing and changing faster than it ever will again.

Hampshire Healthy Families have adopted the five to thrive approach and will incorporate this into our four-week long Five to Thrive workshop for you and your baby. The Five to Thrive message supports the development of secure attachment and emotional resilience. Please contact us to book onto your local workshop.

Hampshire Heathy Families aim to recruit train and support a number of “five to thrive“ champions across Hampshire. If you are interested in finding out more or setting up a five to thrive group please contact us for more information.

Please contact the Hampshire Healthy Families team for further information including workshop and group dates, and available locations.

I have a degree in Early Years and previously worked, for 13 years, with Hampshire early years services providing advice, support and training to Nurseries, Registered Childminders and Preschools; ensuring that they had everything they needed to provide quality childcare helping children to have the very best start in life.
